Tooele County (too-willuh) tests and maintains a system of 29 Whelen sirens, a majority of which being 2806s or 2810s. The county tests voice and whoop signals every Wednesday at 4:00PM, depending on dispatch availability.
After a new chemical weapons incinerator was constructed at Tooele Army Depot in 1993, Tooele County CSEPP was established, and 37 Whelen sirens were installed at a cost of 2.7 million dollars. In 2003, 23 more Whelen sirens were installed, covering northern areas of the county, various recreational sites, and eastern parts of Utah County. At its peak, the system had 62 units. After incinerator operations were concluded in 2012, the CSEPP program was dissolved, and 33 sirens were removed. Four of which were relocated to Woodland Hills in eastern Utah County, and Tooele County EMA took over operation of the remaining system. They have continued testing since. These sirens are up-fitted with solar panels and Whelen Super Strobe S360s.
There are a number of old sirens in Tooele county. On display at the Utah Fire Museum is a Model 5T, two Model 7s, and a Model B. There is also a Thunderbolt 1003 in Tooele City, a Model 2 from TEAD in the railroad museum, and a coded Fedelcode in Wendover.
