There are two sirens serving the Ophir area, a Whelen 2806 at the mouth of the canyon, and a 2804 in the center of town. These sirens were installed with the original batch in 1993. During site planning/testing, it was discovered that as a result of being inside of a canyon, the siren in-town had major reception issues. It was then decided that the best option would be to install a telephone line linking the 2804 with the 2810, over three miles away by road. Also because of its location, the 2804 is the only county siren to receive power from the grid. As of today, the sirens are not operational, and it is currently debated whether to deactivate them or not.
